Hallens Rest

Project Details

The Situation

Located in the mountain range South of Esk, along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail (BVRT). Overlooking Mt Hallen, this night-stay accommodation capitalises on both an unused corner of cattle-grazing land, and the sweeping view of Mt Hallen.

The Issue

The BVRT lacks accommodation options, and any catered to the trail users along the route. The trail runs along the property on its North-East-most corner, coinciding with an area of the unused land.

The Solution

Erection of a small site aimed at short-term stayovers for the users, will minimal maintenance an capitalisation of the mountain views will attract a large amount of users. Pricing for stays will be affordable, with optional catering on top. The site utilises the locality intentionally, inclusive of solar panels, but retains grid connections to not be caught out by the harsh behaviours of Queensland’s forests.
